Michele Buerster received both a B.A. and an M.S. from Eastern Illinois University. Mrs. Buerster began teaching at St. Mary in August of 1980. Since that time she has enjoyed teaching second, third, fourth, and sixth grade students. During the summer of 1999, Michele accepted the position of principal at St. Mary School. From 2000 to 2002, she served as the Regional Chairperson for the Catholic School Principals of the Effingham Region.

Mrs. Buerster and her husband, Paul, reside in Charleston where they have lived since 1972. They have three daughters and five grandsons. Mrs. Buerster loves spending time with her family, visiting friends, traveling to Civil War battlefields, and being part of the St. Mary family.
